FACT 1: HIPAA Privacy Rule

FACT 2: Self Quarantine/ Self Isolation
- Self Quarantine – Separates and restricts the movement of individuals who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick.
- Self Isolation – Separates sick individuals with a contagious disease from people who are not sick.
FACT 3: New Postitive Cases
The reasoning why the Salem County Health Department and the Governors total of Covid-19 positive case may not match.
The State Health Department runs a report of all new positive cases for each county every morning at 8am and reports this information to the Governor’s office. This report is the totals you are hearing at the Governor’s afternoon press conference. Therefore, any new cases that are reported after 8am that day, will not be included in the State’s total for that day. However, Salem County Health Department reports at the end of each working day to capture the most accurate and up to date positive COVID-19 cases for our county.
