Who is a Crusader? According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a crusader is a person who makes an impassioned and sustained effort to bring about social or political change. This is who we are looking for to be recognized as a crusader in the lives of people who live with disabilities in Salem County during Disability Awareness Month.
Each year the Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders through the Department of Health and Human Services awards one individual or organization, who is making a difference in the lives of persons with disabilities in Salem County. The Crusader Award recipient will be announced during the 16th Annual Disability Awareness Day event on October 1, 2020 being held at Appel Farm Arts and Music Campus.
An eligible nominee should be an individual or organization whose leadership and dedication have greatly improved the services available to resident in the County of Salem with special needs. The nominee must be a resident of Salem County or an individual or organization whose energies are primarily directed toward improving the quality of services for persons with special needs within Salem County.
Nominations for this award must be received at the Salem County Office on Aging and Disabilities, 110 Fifth Street, Suite 900, Salem, New Jersey 08079 by September 21, 2020 to be considered.

SELECTION CRITERIA AND PROCEDURE
The major criteria for selecting the award recipients will be the degree and durability of their positive impact on the lives of persons with disabilities within the County of Salem.
The selection of recipients will be made by the Salem County Office on Aging & Disability Services Advisory Board Members.
CRUSADER AWARD: The Crusader Award will be awarded to an individual/business/orginization whose leadership and dedication have greatly improved the services available to residents in the County of Salem with special needs. The nominee must be a resident of the County of Salem or an individual whose energies are primarily directed towards improving the quality of services for the persons with special needs within the County of Salem
