Emergency Preparedness Division
Welcome to the Salem County Medical Reserve Corps – Volunteers Building Strong, Healthy and Prepared Communities
What is the MRC?
Our name does not say it all. “Medical” may be in our title but we need volunteers with a variety of skills and trades. As a member of the MRC unit, you will be part of an organized and trained team. Volunteers will be ready and able to strengthen local emergency planning and response capabilities. As a unit, volunteers will assist during natural disasters, emergency incidents, events and public health activities. Train at your own speed and/or in group settings.

The Salem County Medical Reserve Corps (SCMRC) is a group of area health professionals and community volunteers that are part of the state and national network of citizens to assist public health agencies in responding to natural and man-made disasters. The SCMRC serves a residential and workforce population of over 66,000.
The Salem County MRC is always looking for more volunteers. Volunteers must be 18 years old, live or work in Salem County, and be a U.S. Citizen. Training is offered to MRC volunteers on-line and occasionally in person. Training covers shelter operations, distributing medications, the Incident Command System and many other topics. As a volunteer you will be invited to participate in exercises, clinics, and community events. All of these are optional and offered to increase your knowledge and skills.
