The Salem County Department of Health and Human Services announces the addition of a meditation garden at Salem County Recreation Park in Oldmans Township. The meditation garden is located in a quiet area of the park just off of the walking path. Beautiful redwood benches will be installed by mid November to complete the project.
The meditation garden was funded by a New Department Healthy Committees Network grant, Salem Health and Wellness Foundation, and the Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
“Salem County has been able to make improvements at the park over the past several years through theses competitive grants, and we now see more and more people at the park for walks and to use the exercise stations,” said Freeholder Director Bob Vanderslice, who also chairs the Health Committee. “Staff at the Facilities Department have assisted us to help the grant dollars go further.”
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the meditation garden, walking path, newly mulched playground, softball and soccer fields. Salem County Recreation Park which is located on the corner of Route 130 and Perkintown Road in Oldmans Township. The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
