Inspectors respond to citizen complaints concerning general health nuisance conditions affecting the public. Notice of Violation documents may be issued as a result of the investigation findings and some cases may be taken to Court.

Please note:

• A housing complaint concerning a dwelling with one or two units is under the jurisdiction of your municipality as the primary enforcement entity of the NJ Housing Code. Please contact the municipal housing office in your jurisdiction regarding these complaints.
• A housing complaint concerning a multiple unit dwelling of three or more units is under the jurisdiction of the NJ Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA). Contact NJDCA at 609-633-6229 or email .
